LDF - (Line Dance Foundation)
report following an event in Burntwood with monies raised being donated to LDF - thanks guys!!!
In November 2009, Linedancer magazine sent out a plea for help with the Line Dance Foundation to which I replied and was later honoured to be announced as the Ambasssador for LDF. This is a charity which was originally launched by Betty Drummond at The Crystal Boot Awards in 2007. The aim is very simple, to raise and distribute funds to provide practical and financial assistance to any person who has earned their living or a significant part of it through the development of line dance, and for whatever reason are no longer able to whether temporary or permanently. A simple way to give a little back to those dedicated people who give so much towards the hobby you love. We all know of some really important and wonderful people who have dedicated thier lives to line dancing but have had major setbacks and then no support. If we all act together we can build the LDF, and hopefully help lives solely dedicated to line dancing for years to come. If every line dancing club would hold just one fund raising event a year, LDF would be in very good health.

With the help of Cath's Kickers including a sponsored A-Z dance social, monies from raffles, the sale of LDF wrist bands etc, raised just short of £2,000 in 2010. In January 2011, I attended the Crysal Boot Award weekend in Blackpool and received a star award for "outstanding contribution to Line Dance Foundation".
Following on from this, I was invited to attend the Norbreck Hotel in Blackpool in March 2011 and sing for my supper in the form of teaching the LDF 2011 dance. This was the first "large" event I had taught at and with the support of Alan Birchall and his wife Jacqui providing me with deep breathing exercises, Cathy was up on stage teaching 400+ the dance which was well received.
